Got a quick medical question or need to consult a vet outside of business hours? Fetch covers remote telehealth treatment, so you can call, text, email or video chat with a vet to get the support you need. You’re covered up to $1,000 per year, no copay required.
Specialty care is expensive, and that’s when having the most comprehensive coverage really counts. If your pet needs treatment for a disease, including cancer, Fetch pays back up to 90% of the cost of care. Plus, we offer coverage for your pet’s hospital stay, medications and follow-up care.

What’s not covered?
Fetch Pet Insurance covers future accidents and illnesses — the stuff you can’t see coming. Here’s everything you need to know about what we don’t cover.
Pre-existing conditions are not covered.
A pre-existing condition is any accident or illness that occurred or your pet showed clinical signs of before you enrolled, during the waiting period of up to 15 days, or before your pet’s first exam. Fetch offers the most comprehensive coverage in the U.S. and Canada for new accidents and illnesses, but like most other providers, we don’t cover pre-existing conditions.
Claims filed more than 90 days after treatment are not covered.
Remember to submit claims within 90 days from the date on your pet's invoice to be eligible for reimbursement. Claims submitted after 90 days won't be covered.
Prescription food is not covered.
We cover supplements that are recommended by your vet as treatment for a covered condition, but not prescription food.
Grooming and cosmetic procedures are not covered.
We do not cover grooming or cosmetic surgical procedures such as tail docking, ear trimming or declawing.
Which vets accept Fetch Pet Insurance?
All vets are in our network — you can use any veterinarian in Canada or the U.S. (including specialists and emergency clinics). We also cover remote telehealth treatment, so you can call, text, email or video chat with a vet to get the support you need. Online vet visits are covered up to $1,000 per year — included at no extra cost — no copay required.
What’s a waiting period, and how does it affect coverage?
The waiting period is a set period between enrollment and when coverage kicks in. The waiting period for accident and illness coverage with Fetch is up to 15 days. We’ll email you as soon as your coverage starts.
Here’s what you need to know about the waiting period:
Any claims submitted during the waiting period will not be covered.
Any accident or illness that occurs during the waiting period will be considered a pre-existing condition, which means it won’t be eligible for coverage.
We cover new accidents and illnesses that occur after the waiting period is over.
There is no waiting period for Fetch Wellness coverage. You can start submitting wellness claims on your policy’s effective date. Wondering when that is? Just check your enrollment confirmation email.
How to maximize your Fetch coverage
Ensure your pet has had a recent checkup
The key to making the most of your pet insurance is getting your pet’s medical records from the 12 months before you signed up with Fetch. Medical records detail your pet's history and give notes on treatment they’ve received. If you don't have them, contact your vet's office. (Your vet may refer to these records as SOAP notes.) If your pet hasn’t visited the vet in the past year, schedule an annual exam as soon as possible.
Unlock a seamless claims experience
When it’s time to submit a claim, you’ll be asked to upload your pet’s medical records. Without your pet’s medical records from a checkup, we might not be able to process your claims at all. In other words: there’s a chance we won’t be able to pay you back.
Get paid back fast with the Fetch app
Submitting your pet’s medical records and claims is fast and easy with the Fetch app — you can scan and upload your documents to your account in minutes. It’s as easy as snapping a pic on your phone.
Save more by adding Fetch Wellness
Routine and preventive care is important to keep your pet healthy, and that’s where Fetch Wellness comes in. We’ll help cover your bills for those vet visits you can plan in advance, like annual exams, dental cleanings and vaccinations. Adding Wellness to your standard Fetch Pet Insurance plan will keep your pet covered for both the expected and the unexpected.
Ready to give your pet unmatched coverage?
Fetch covers up to 90% of unexpected vet bills. Enrolling in a pet insurance plan with us is easy. We’ll ask you a few questions about your pet’s age, breed and location and help you customize a price that fits your budget. (At Fetch, the cost of your pet's insurance plan will never be affected by sex, spay or neuter status and indoor or outdoor status.) Once the waiting period ends, your coverage begins — and you can kick back and relax knowing that you’ve got a financial safety net for whatever the future has in store for you and your pet. Hopefully, that future includes a lot of treats.

How does pet insurance work?
When you sign up for Fetch Pet Insurance, you’ll be able to customize your plan and price to suit your pet’s needs. Fetch reimburses up to 90% of covered vet bills (after the waiting period ends and you’ve hit your deductible). Unlike human health insurance there is no such thing as out-of-network — you can use any vet in Canada or the U.S.
Why should I get pet insurance?
1 out of 3 pets need unexpected veterinary care each year. Having a pet insurance plan is like having a safety net for the unexpected, and the sooner you sign up, the sooner your pet's covered. Most pet insurance providers don't cover pre-existing conditions, so it’s best to enroll in a plan as early as possible. Fetch covers dogs and cats 6 weeks and older with the most comprehensive coverage in the Canada and the U.S. Insuring your pet before health issues develop is recommended, so you can make the cost of veterinary treatment more affordable now and down the road. But don’t just take it from us — check out these reviews and see for yourself why pet parents love Fetch.
How do I insure multiple pets?
If you’re a pet parent to many, we want to make sure your furry friends are covered with Fetch. Each pet you enroll will have their own policy, and you’ll pay a separate premium for each one. Just make sure you use the same email address when you sign up each pet. For more on how to add a pet to an existing account, check out our multiple pet policies page.
What are pre-existing conditions, and are they covered?
A pre-existing condition is any accident or illness that occurred or your pet showed clinical signs of before you enrolled, during the waiting period of up to 15 days or before your pet’s first exam. Like most other providers, Fetch does not cover pre-existing conditions.
How do pet insurance claims work?
With Fetch, you'll submit a claim after your vet visit (this can include your vet bill and your pet's medical records) and you’ll be paid back if the treatment your dog or cat received is covered under your plan and you’ve met your deductible. Submitting a claim is as easy as taking a picture of your vet documents and answering a few questions online or using our app. Once approved, Fetch pays back up to 90% of your bill.
